Alicia Weston, BEM, FRSA

Founder & CEO

Alicia Weston is the founder of Bags of Taste. She was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Honours List 2019, for "making a significant difference" via her work with Bags of Taste.

She trained as a Pharmacologist but after some postgrad research, she worked in venture capital & investment banking for 18 years. In this time she was heavily involved with charitable & corporate social responsibility activities including education and Crisis, the homeless charity.

She went on to work for the think tank The New Economics Foundation, developing new ways to finance Social Housing, and also is the founder of Parkholme Supper Club, one of London’s leading supper clubs which is renown for its international food.

Sarah Hooker

Head of Fundraising and Communications

Sarah has over 20 years’ experience of working in fundraising for the not for profit sector with a range of national and local charities. Sarah has worked in a number of different roles across fundraising including trusts and foundations and major donors, corporate fundraising, events, community fundraising and individual giving as well as communications and marketing.

Her role at Bags of Taste encompasses not only fundraising but wider organisational comms and development of new business opportunities.

Babs Fry

Operations Director

Babs Fry is the Director of Operations and Company Secretary. Babs has been with Bags of Taste through its whole journey and was a student on the pilot course back in 2014. Since then, Babs, a mother of 5, has not only cooked most of our recipes but became a volunteer for some time and even taught some of our courses. Now Babs works part-time at our HQ and continues to cook our delicious recipes and looks forward to our supporting continuing expansion throughout the UK.

Branch Outcomes and Monitoring

Helen has successfully established several branches for Bags of Taste and so with this experience she both advises and supports the Branch Head network, particularly on successful recruitment.

She is responsible for the monitoring of the individual branches and ensuring that best practice is spread throughout the organisation.

Branch Head Representative

Justin volunteered with Bags of Taste for 2 years before setting up the first branch of BoT in Islington. He has since run many courses and also mentored and trained several new branch heads & franchisees in our methods.

He is now the branch head representative on the management team, ensuring that their views are adequately represented and feeding back to them the strategic decisions that are made.

Kate Godden

Kate Godden

Adviser, Nutrition Programming

Kate Godden is a Principal Nutrition Adviser with 25+ years experience at all levels in the nutrition sector, covering the major areas of planning and programming, in both consultancy and academia. She has extensive global experience in development and humanitarian contexts (20+ countries). She has 15 years of evaluation experience, 10+ years academic lecturing in Public Health Nutrition at MSc level and has been registered with the Association for Nutrition since 1999. She lectures primarily on nutrition programme planning and food security, and is also a qualified Dietitian.

Despite her international experience, she still claims that Wembley is the most diverse place she has worked.

Dr. Annie Herbert

Adviser, Evaluation

Annie has a PhD in statistics and epidemiology and over a decade of experience on teaching about, advising on, and carrying out research projects in health and medicine, for the NHS and universities. She also has on-the-ground experience of volunteering for Bags of Taste.

Previously an active part of the management team, now she advises on evaluation of the courses, though she is also interested in all aspects of helping Bags of Taste grow!
